About
I am a Fine Artist with a multi-disciplinary practice that includes painting, installation, photography, video, walking and drawing. I am interested in exploring my lived experience through a variety of playful visual art strategies. These provide a meeting ground for an audience to contemplate and explore our shared experiences. This phenomenological exploration into the roles and nature of contemporary life are expressed through my love of process, experimentation and handling of materials. A connection between the inner world of the mind and the outer world understood through our bodies via the production of art. I embrace the absurd, the playful, randomness, discovering possibilities and challenging the barriers and rules that constrain me.
I am in my 40s and have waited my whole adult life to pursue art as my full-time activity. I have navigated work-life (being paid) and motherhood and finally I am concentrating on pursuing my creative life. I have chipped away at this since my teens: studying at art schools and teaching how to draw, paint, talk and write about art to adults and children in schools and workshops. Now is the time to be brave and a little selfish - now is the time to create and share.
